Conflict theory was propounded by Karl Marx based on the hypothesis that society is in a perpetual state of conflict due to the limited resources that initiates competition to achieve those.which leads to unequal distribution of resources hence conflict between those who accumulate resources and another group who lacks those resources.
Social conflict theory goes a step ahead and focuses on conflict in social life. It says that there is a competition in social life related to social inequality, uneven distribution of economic resources and political power structure. This inequality gives rise to hierarchy and polarization leading to conflict viz. a viz. social change. The social conflicts are manifested through, war, unrest, revolution etc.
