The basic structural and functional difference between design capacity and effective capacity is that the design capacity is the maximum output that can be produced in ideal conditions and theoretically this is used. Effective Capacity on the other hand is the maximum possible output in normal condition and generally it would be less than that of effective capacity. Design Capacity is the ideal concept whereas the effective capacity is the actual one
