Some companies do not include educational benefits in their benefits plans. Discuss reasons why this may be the case. If your employer does offer tuition reimbursement, share your thoughts with the class on the value of this benefit. Also, what percentage of the employees do you believe typically take advantage of it? Obviously, please do not share anything that would be confidential in nature.

Answer #1

Some of the reasons for companies not including educational benefits are:

  1. It is an extra cost to the company which directly affects their profit percentage.
  2. Also, if employees leave in between then that cost spends by the company is not compensated by the tenure of the employee.
  3. The cost varies because of the level of education and hence standardization in the budget cannot be made.

There could be many benefits for the organization if it offers to reimburse tuition fee:

  1. It convinces the employee to stay in the organization and a tenured employee is always an asset for the organization.
  2. It increases the reputation of the organisation in the market.
