Answer #1

Emergency medical services on a basic level are provided as a transport operation to take the patients from their location to the nearest medical facility. Such services are managed by different deparments across different countries.

Such operations will have established operation protocols which will be implemented by the concerned administrations while rendering their services and hence transferring the authority to other administrations may not have much impact on how such services are carried out.

Departments / Administrations that manage EMS for some countries are given below for reference;

  • USA - National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
  • Australia - State Ambulance Services, which are a division of the state or territorial governments
  • Hong Kong - Hong Kong Fire Service together with some voluntary organizations.
  • United Kingdom - National Health Services
  • Russia - Disaster Medical Service
