The recent popularity in mobile computing has prompted a request from the CIO to allow wireless LAN access to its employees. There is one building with 100 employees. What network requirements will need to be addressed in response to this request? Explain each in detail.

Wlan have requirements like lan ,including ability to cover short distances ,high capacity etc..

Some of those requirements are:

• NODE POINTS: WLAN SUPPORT MANY NODES ACROSS MULTIPLE CELLS.
• POWER: Mobile workers use battery-powered workstations that need to have a long battery life when used with wireless adapters.
• COVERAGE AREA: Most of WLAN has a coverage diameter of 100 to 300 m.
• SECURITY: Proper design of wlan interface will lead it less prone to attacks.
• CONFIGURATION: Configuration must be dynamic, The addressing and network management of LAN should permit dynamic and automated addition, deletion, and relocation of end systems without disruption to other users.
• CLIENT DEVICES: Type client like user have this os and so on, this helps in network distribution and its design.
• ENVIRONMENT: Detail about the environment in which network has to be established, like building, outdoor areas.
• THROUGHPUT: This is for maximizing the network capacity ,if it get loaded with requests.

Some more are like access points, controllers, antennas, protocols, and security mechanisms.
