INVERTING OP-AMP CONFIGURATION
ADVANTAGES
1. It follows the negative feedback for amplifier . On positive feedback it will behave like an oscillator.
2. The gain factor is very high i.e. G = -Rf / R1 .
3. Input and output are out of phase by 180° ( -ve sign in gain represents 180 deg. phase shift ) .
4. Both the inverting and non inverting terminals same potential values (Virtual Ground Concept ) .
APPLICATIONS
1. As the output generated is of 180° phase shift . So, can be used as phase shifter.
2. It can be practically used in the application of integration , differentiation and signal filterting (low pass, high pass ,band pass ) .
3. It can be used as voltage summer circuit .
4. At the applications where the signal must be balanced inverting amplifiers are used .
5. In the concept of mixers when the radio frequency signals are present inverting amplifiers are used .
6. Any application or the system prototype that is designed with the sensors prefer inverting amplifiers at the output stage .
ADVANTAGE OVER OTHER CONFIGURATION
Inverting op-amp circuits are : more stable , have lower distortion , have better transient response and are immune to low common mode rejection ratio .
Non - inverting circuits have higher input impedances and higher bandwidth in low gain applications , but have a significant common mode response which may be non-linear

is the range of gain values expected from such a circuit? An inverting op amp circuit is fabricated with the resistors R, and R2 having x% tolerance (that is, the value of each resistance can deviate from the nominal value by as much as x%). What is the tolerance on the realized closed-loop gain? As- sume the op amp to be ideal. If the nominal closed-loop gain is -100 V/V and x = 5, what
