Strategic planning can help public and nonprofit organizations, as well as communities, fulfill their missions, meet their mandates, and create lasting public value (Bryson, 2018). However, there are times when strategic planning is not the solution. As a public administrator or nonprofit manager, it is equally important to be prepared to identify situations when strategic planning is not appropriate. This week’s readings describe the limitations of strategic planning under different scenarios.

Post an analysis of one key guideline (from the readings) for employing the strategic planning process. Explain why this guideline is important and why you chose it. Then, considering strategic planning as a tool for management and leadership and from your own experience, analyze a situation in which strategic planning may not add value to the organization or community.

answer-

Strategic planning process is a process in which organization make plan to make and implement strategies so that it can acheive its organizational goals. The one key guideline for employing the strategic planning process is to have clear vision because Having a clear vision at early stage of strategic planning helps to create a direction on which the whole strategic plan will go or depend. without vision in place, strategic planning will be successful or whole process will got waste.Vision helps organization what its wants to acheive and where it wants to go fro current to future. this is why strategic planning is long term process.

There is a situation where strategic planning does not add value to the organization or community.Strategic planning process is on paper but it needs to be executed then who exeute it? The people like employees of an organization helps to implement the planning but when employees of an organization are not attentive or interest in achieveing goals in the planningg process then strategic planning does not add value. This is one of the limitation of this strategic planning.

The first internal inflexibility is in the form of human psychology in that most of the people have regard for the present rather than for future. The present is not only more certain than future, it is also more desirable, and more real.

Thus, resistance to change is a basic factor which works against planning because planning often depends on the changes. People may have feelings that if planning is soft-pedalled, the changes and the possible danger of future will be minimised. For them, planning tends to accelerate change and unrest.

This way, Organization's strategic planning remain on paper or does not executed accurately and not provide any value.
