One such charity organization society was established in 1869 at london as the society for organising charitable relief and repressing menacity. The society was established in an aim to increase effectiveness amongst charities and to organise charitable giving. Supporters of the movement believed that individuals in poverty could be uplifted through association with middle and upper class volunteers, primarily protestant woman.
