Answer: There are two sides of every coin, same is for the teamwork. If we talk about the teamwork it consists of people working together for one major cause.

The benefits of the working in the team are:

  1. Many people mean many new ideas and views. This will work as collaborative and can find many possible ways for any particular issue or work.
  2. Working with the team means all the works get distributed and can be completed very easily and quickly. This also saves time.
  3. Teamwork may lead to the understanding, cooperating as well as it also enhances knowledge of the members.

Barriers to the teamwork and collaboration in nursing profession:

  1. As team means many people working together sometimes it creates a problem such as some of the members can’t take in what others are saying because they say it differently.
  2. In the nursing profession individuals approach things differently so they don’t know where their teammates are coming from so they don’t develop trust and hence it causes hurdle in the treatment of the patient.
  3. Sometimes the understanding problem occurs and teammate donot understand the things clearly.

Three ways to effectively foster teamwork and collaboration within the professional nursing setting are:

  1. The team members work through a simple problem and document the steps they would take to solve the problem. The group should see there are many ways to work through things and gain an appreciation for different approaches. Then have each member review with the group how and why the approached it in their unique way.
  2. Decisions shouldn’t always be made through consensus but there are times when all team members need to have a say to buy in and carry the decision through. So if the team is having trouble making decisions look into why that is, challenge the team to identify why they are having trouble and brainstorm on suggestions on how to improve.
  3. They should understand that they are working for the common goals so they should work together and identify their main aim.
