Myers contends that "In essentially every society, men are socially dominant." But is that true? This asks you to consider the possibility that gender roles are changing......and changing fast.

This questions has three parts:

1. Access Hanna Rosin's controversial talk from TED TV, Ideas Worth Spreading, about changing gender roles. This video clip is about 20 minutes.   A transcript can be accessed at the bottom right corner of the video.

2. Rosin makes the argument that thousands of years of gender history are changing and that this change is economically motivated. After watching her presentation, answer the following three questions in your initial post:

a. Are you convinced by Rosin's argument? Why or why not?

b. If this change is indeed occurring, is it about gender equality or gender role reversal? In the subject line of your post, put one of the following: gender equality, role reversal, something else or not convinced.  In the body of your post, explain your choice and, if you choose "something else," explain what that something else would be.

c. What does this imply about the role of biology and culture in gender roles?

Please watch Hanna Rosin's controversial talk video and answer in two to three paragraphs.

Answer #1

a. Hanna Rosin argument that women are doing very well I do agree, she has shown in her talk that from the older generation the preferences were given to boys, everybody wanted the first child to be a boy and for last 40 years the scenario has changed, there is a shift from the first boy to either a boy or girl it is OK. The education pattern has changed first engineers were supposed to be only men and now women are software engineers, computer engineers, mechanical engineers etc.

The changes are due to education and accepting ladies quality of flexibility, adjusting, understanding and handling the situation in a better way than men, The recession had affected men much hard than women previously, now both men and women were affected that is a passing phase and will get over.

b.The women are occupying the place of managerial post, that was once occupied by men, the workforce is having more women than men, the trend is changing globally, even in Asian countries the women are more educated and serving the economy, now men are not the only bread earner it is women force that is also working harder and running a household. Women have their choice of living and choosing the life partners, they have become independent, self-sufficient and more confident.

The research showed that women force are more educated than men, the men do not restart their college if once left, but girls they give preference to study.

The economy before was building and producing good and now it has changed to the service economy, and women are striving hard and affecting the economy.

The dropout ratio in the school is very surprising the boys are less interested in studies and obtaining higher degrees. The economy before was building and producing economy, during the housing boom, there were contractors and labors and engineers and architects majority were men, now that phase is over and now it is service economy and, in the service economy, women are much better than men and earning better than men.

3. I agree with her talk that women have replaced man on many fronts and taken the leads in the workplace, but still, if you see on the global fronts most of the country heads, are still the men force, There are pilots, and in the army men are mostly in front, and there are certain field where strength is required men are in forefront. Both men and women are intelligent, this a phase where women have taken advantages due to their nature and education and wanted to get free from the men's authority, and that they have shown by establishing small business, education and earning better and higher than men,
