I am struggling with the concept of cluster studies so I have an example of one I need help on.

You are interested in studying how male coaches of high school female athletes use praise vs.

criticism. (What you are interested in does not actually matter, but give some

context.)

You want to conduct an ARIZONA-wide study of these coaches, but you cannot study all of them

so you decide to do cluster sampling to determine which coaches you will ultimately include.

1. What will you cluster on FIRST and HOW will you do it? Include HOW MANY you will end up

with.

2. What will you cluster on SECOND and HOW will you do it? Include HOW MANY you will end

up with.

3. What will you cluster on THIRD and HOW will you do it? Include HOW MANY you will end up

with.

4. How many high school coaches will you end up with? Show how you know that.

1.

In the very first step we shall divide the state Arizona into clusters as different counties in Arizona. Thus each county in Arizona corresponds to a cluster. Thus we shall have 15 heterogeneous clusters as there are 15 counties in Arizona.

We shall select few of these clusters randomly using random number in the interval [1, 15] from random number table or random number generators.

2.

There are different districts in each counties. We take these districts as heterogeneous clusters within counties.

We shall select few of these clusters randomly using random number from random number table or random number generators.

3.

There are different areas wards in each districts. We take these wards as heterogeneous clusters within districts.

We shall select few of these clusters randomly using random number from random number table or random number generators.

4.

Thus we are ended with few wards as smaller clusters within the state Arizona.

We shall collect data from all high schools of the selected wards corresponding to male coaches starategy of using praise vs criticism towards high school female athletes.
