Answer #1

I would like to talk about the best TED talk i have ever seen.

Introduction - The talk was taken over by Sir Ken Robinson. He is a British author, speaker and international advisor on education in the arts to government, non-profits, education and arts bodies. He was Director of the Arts in Schools Project and Professor of Arts Education at the University of Warwick, and is now Professor Emeritus at the same institution. He is from Liverpool, London.

Synopsis of his talk - The main core of Sir Ken Robinson talk is that the way we're getting educated or getting our children educated has more or less no purpose. And it takes nowhere. He wanted us to identify the gaps in the educational system around the world. Robinson claims that every education system on earth would have the same hierarchy of subjects: Mathematics and languages are rated higher than humanities, and to the humanities is given more importance than to the arts. Within the arts there would be a further gradation: Art and music are higher rated than drama and dance. According to Robinson, the result of an education focused on the children’s heads rather than their bodies, leads to a system whose ultimate goal it is to form university professors.

So the bottom line of his speech is that we are just being taught what is the book rather than what is life.

My Views - I Personally like this speech very much, because it exactly connects with my argument. I never ever liked the school education system, not even the higher school. We are only made to study the books which were generalized over every where and we worked hard for getting the grades. So i believe what Robinson has said is correct, this world needs to change in the way it has to.
