To understand this we need to know what is social loafing, individuation and groupthink. Starting with social loafing, as the name suggests social loafing is the tendency to not try hard to achieve some goal when they are working in a group. Its because they think that everyone else will put efforts, and if I won't work hard it's not going to affect the performance, and when one person is thinking the same thing, everyone else is also thinking the same and nobody is paying enough attention. It is a negative affect.

Similarly to social loafing Individuation and group thinks are also negative effects. Groupthink means the tendency to form a common consensus without even trying other alternatives. For instance, you had a better way to do some work but just because your boss said that this alternative will be good you didn't put your view out just to avoid conflict with your boss. And because of the alternative your boss suggested the work took 4 days, it is possible that the alternative you had would have taken only 2 days.

Our media has contributed to an extent to this. I would like to explain this with an example. Suppose there is a show in which it has been shown that going against your boss can cost you your job. What people are going to interpret out of this? Of course, they don't have to speak or do anything against him if they want to be in their jobs and position. So you see what media shows impacts a lot to the people's mentality.
