Q2 How warehouse location affect packaging for a global company? (Note: This question is NOT asking how you would choose where to put a warehouse or warehouses, how many you should have, how you would operate them, etc. It is asking that, once you have made these warehouse choices, how does the rest of the logistics system need to support it? How is the rest of the logistics system affected by this warehouse location choice? Then, how does the warehouse location choice affect the packaging design?)

Answer #1

The rest of the logistics system will be affected by a particular choices of the location. For example, A logistics software supposed to operate from that location will require adding to the all the possible routes , sub locations , product descriptions and types and many other aspects related to input and order processing.

Packaging will depend upon proximity of the locations from the warehouse location, availability of raw materials for packaging , easier technology for packaging and overall manpower availability to ensure huge and efficient packaging of products. If , goods will have to send neary by locations then packaging might be different and if it will have to send more long distances then a fixed and safe packaging will be required. Many times , we noticed huge containers in case of drug , chemicals, non durables products etc. in case of shipping of the goods to foreign locations.
