Hey there, I've answered this in a brief way so that you could understand it better. Please let me know if you have any doubts before disliking this answer, but if you find my explanation useful please leave a like, it really helps me a lot.
Now coming to the first part of the answer; Yes, when I was working for a small audit firm I was involved in a project audit of a small company's project. When we were first allotted the project audit assignment our main lead made an audit plan for conducting of the audit and proceeded with the audit plant. My first experience was considerably good, since it was my initial days in the audit department and it was my very first audit so I was a bit fascinated for all the things that are going to be done or already done at the audit.
Coming to the next part of the question; If I were a project manager, I would like have an audit because it really bring up the motivation in me for doing complicated tasks and completing them in the given deadlines. I would like to start my audit of the project by defining the goals and identification of the goals of the audit and also ascertaining the objectives of the audit. I would also consider many alternatives and tools for conduct of the audit in a smooth way.
Coming to the last part of the question; If I want to have an audit I would like to have it done as per the time stipulated by the normal company terms or the basis on which the agreement between us depicts. I would be generally the pre determined time on which the audit will be completed by the mutual consent of both the client and the auditor. As discussed in the above paragraph I would first define eh objectives of the audit and next draft the plan for conducting the audit and finally execute the plan and finally review and monitor the results for any further deviations.
Please let me know if you have any doubts before disliking this answer, but if you find my explanation useful please leave a like, it really helps me a lot.
