The name of the product is a mobile phone. Product lifecycle of a mobile phone comprises of four steps: introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. The introduction stage of a mobile phone started in 1985 and it continued till 1997. It was the early days of a mobile phone when very few used this gadget. The growth stage of the mobile phone started in 1998-2000. It started expanding rapidly around the world. Mobile phone subscribers increased from 25% to 74%. It suddenly became an integral part of life. The next level is the saturation level which depicts the maturity stage. In this stage, the growth of mobile phone user was at its peak. This is stage started in 2000 and continued to 2009. The subscription rate of mobile phone jumped to 130% straightway from 74%. People have started to learn to send SMS and to send MMS. The final stage is the decline. However, there is still no sign of a decline in the mobile phone market. Instead, the market base is expanding rapidly around the world as the mobile phone has brought the entire world to home. Moreover, the era of the smartphone has rapidly changed the entire mobile phone market.
The same product can be designed and used with the effective implementation of the product life-cycle tool. This tool is an effective way to demonstrate the critical analysis concept of the product; mobile phone In the introduction stage, the mobile phone will be designed.
