At a certain school, statistics class and calculus class meet at the same time, so it is impossible for a student to take both. Answer #1

From given information we get,

P(Statistics) = 0.06 , P(Calculus) = 0.30 and

P(Statistics AND Calculus) = 0

We want to find, P(Statistics OR Calculus)

P(Statistics OR Calculus)

= P(Statistics) + P(Calculus) - P(Statistics OR Calculus)

= 0.06 + 0.30 - 0

= 0.36

Therefore, the probability that a student takes statistics class or calculus class is 0.36
