What Are Some Barriers to Effective Communication? Think about difficult communication situations you have had and what prevented strong communication and understanding. Think about what can you do as a communicator to make the communication process smoother so that both parties come away with a better outcome/ understanding.

These are the following barriers to effective communication-

1) During communication using unfamiliar terms.

2) Lack of interest and attention of receiver.

3) Emotional barrier in communication.

4) Changed perception and viewpoints.

5) Physical disability in communication like hearing problems.

6) Non verbal communication.

7) Differences in language

8) Cultural differences like regional tone and influences while communicating.

One difficult communication situation during my professional life when my new boss join to me and I was responsible to report him and during telephonic discussion I was failed to explain my point of views because boss was fluent in speaking in English and I was not at his level that was lead to barrier in communication, language barrier of communication prevented strong communication and understanding that was lead to a dispute and for resolving that dispute I was personally met my boss and explain with best possible ways.

As a communicator I will try to make the communication process smoother so that both parties come away with a better outcome or understanding by effectively planning the communication process, understanding the receiver background and skills, using the proper channel of communication and using a common language. These are practices will make the communication process effective and productive.
