(Answer) In most presentations and speeches, the speaker generally follows a particular subject or theme. This means that the speaker is going to use theories, axioms, aphorisms, examples and personal testimonies that are related to the subject of the presentation.
Even though all elements are meant to educate the audience about the subject, it is generally the personal testimony that best illustrates the subject of the presentation. When the presenter has been through the situations that they are presenting, the audience is able to better empathise with the speaker. When they can empathise, they are able to remember the presentation based on the compassion they have felt for the speaker’s personal situation.
Therefore, personal experiences bring about a relatable feeling that the audience is best able to connect with. This means that the best lesson to give a future communication student it to connect with listeners through personal experiences. This helps retention and through empathy.
