Please help with the option and explain the answer.

Based on what you know about interactions between the Krüppel gene and Hunchback protein in early Drosophila embryos (see the graphs on slide 12 from lecture 12) , predict what would happen with the pattern of Krüppel expression in the embryos in which Hunchback protein is uniformly over expressed at high levels throughout the A/P axis.

a) Expression pattern will remain the same

b) Expression will be extended to the antherior

c) Expression will be extended to the posterior

d) The second band of Krüppel will appear

e) There will be no Krüppel expression

Answer #1

e) There will be no Kruppel expression.

Because krüppel transcription appears over the region where Hunchback expression begin to declines. Here in this question Hb protein is over expressed throughout the anterior posterior axis, so no Kruppel expression occurs.

Thank you........

Developmental Biology Help! Please answer all the questions 1) We discussed the fact that each stripe expression pattern is affected by the enhancer region that is utilized. Knowing that the maternal genes and the gap genes can both contribute to the pair-rule genes, and that in many cases multiple stripes may be contained in one area of GAP, how does the embryo have definition of stripes if all of these transcription factors can be within the same cell A it...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
