A local area network infrastructure is completely wired but wants to allows its users to have wireless capabilities and remote access from home. What pieces of equipment or services should they add?

Local Area network (LAN) is wired network used for transmissions of data from one point to another using Lan wire. But we want to control or access remotely situated network from home, for that purpose we can use internet protocol for accessing data from remote based computer. If we are controling any process then we can use SCADA( supervisory Control and data acquisition) which is very effective for monitoring ant plant situated remotely. If we are just wanted to access remotely based system then internet protocol is most convenient methods, for that purpose we need modem (modulator and demodulator) router for accessing remotely located server from home. Router can be used to provide wireless communication as well to some distance, called WiFi networks. Therefore to access remote based network internet connection is very useful.

Note- please find me in comment box if you find any difficulty. I am confused about application where it is used. Is it just for simple communication or some industry where processing is done.
