Signal to noise ratio is the measure of signal strength relative to the background noise.

SNR = average signal power/average noise power

Given Bandwidth = 1 MHz

SNR = 20 dB

Maximum Data Rate or Capacity = Bandwidth   log2(1 + SNR)

Maximum Data Rate or Capacity = 1 106  log2(1 + 20)

Maximum Data Rate or Capacity = 106​​​​​​​  log2​​​​​​​(21)

Maximum Data Rate or Capacity = 106​​​​​​​  4.39231742278 bps

Maximum Data Rate or Capacity = 4.3 Mbps
