Describe two subsistence strategies of early human populations
One of the keystones of the evolutionary ecological approach is the concept of energy budget, in which time and energy allocation is conceptually divided into somatic effort (growth, development and maintenance, and includes subsistence activities) and reproductive effort (which is further divided into mating effort and parental effort).
Time and energy allocated to one component must be traded off against allocation to another. Using this energy budget approach in conjunction with some of the general implications of foraging theory, this article will explore the relationship between population dynamics and subsistence intensiécation. My discussion will revolve around two basic propositions regarding long-term human population history: 1) the near-zero growth rates that have prevailed through much of prehistory are likely due to long-term averaging across periods of rela- tively rapid local population growth interrupted by infrequent crashes caused by density-dependen t and density-independent factors; and 2) broad changes in population growth rates across subsist- ence modes in prehistory are probably best explained in terms of changes in mortality due to the dampening or buffering of crashes rather than signiécant increases in fertility.
describe the three early prominent explanations for human social behavior.
Explain why marriage was an early and vitally important human invention. Discuss the various social strategies people have used to create ties between groups and to defuse tensions among hunter - gathers . (300 words)
Essay: Homo erectus differs from earlier hominins in having a subsistence pattern that includes higher amounts of meats and foods that required extractive foraging. 1) Describe the relationship between brain size, body size/limb proportions and this shift in subsistence patterns for H. erectus. Be sure to include specific references to biological adaptations related to the subsistence pattern. 2) How does culture (think stone tools and social behaviors) influence these factors? Your answer should include a definition/discussion of the biocultural feedback...
Compare and contrast communication patterns and behaviors among German and Haitian populations. Describe four strategies health care provides can use to effectively communicate with individuals and families from German and Haitian populations.
Describe two strategies of passive bond management and two strategies of active bond management.?
As a nurse, how would you prepare to work with the following two populations (The Poverty/Homelessness and The Violence/Human Abuse) and what are some key issues that you need to be aware of before working with these two populations? Using the same two populations , referenced above describe the resources that are available and recommend additional resources. Please answer in APA format with citations
Identify two strategies that an organisation can adopt, when faced with a surplus of human resources. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of each strategy.
DNA evidence from an early human skeleton in Britain, shows that early inhabitants of were blue eyed and had dark brown skin. While residents of the UK still have high rates of blue eyes (about 48%). At the same time unlike the early humans in the UK the rate of dark skin is much lower. Describe the steps of natural selection that led to the change from brown skin blues, to a majority blues eye light skin in humans in...
Genetic polymorphisms can either be fixed between two human populations, where all members of one population carry a different allele than all members of the second population; or polymorphisms can be shared between two populations, where both alleles are found in both populations. Which type of polymorphism is more common in humans? What effect does migration have on the frequencies of each of these two types of polymorphisms?
