SLAVERY IS THE GROUND ZERO OF RACE RELATIONS
The quotation " Slavery is the ground zero of race relations" can be discussed on the belief that racism was a result of slavery because when the colonist first arrived in the colonies, they had a class-based society, not a race-based society, African-Americans had rights and land before slavery, and the new race and slavery laws were put in place after cheap labor was needed.
The English came to America with the idea of Ethnocentrism and the introduction to new races brought out the their true nature in a negative light; like racism and slavery. The Europeans even had their own white indentured servants and they, “were not punished for being white indentured servants to death”. Poor blacks and whites even worked together and, “rebelled against the rich, burning down Jamestown”, in Bacon’s Rebellion and mistreatment was of the poor man and no race was involved.
