Solution

Low quality high Business value

Low quality High business value these kinds of systems making important contribution to business

it cannot be scrapped so easily

But what the real problem is that because of their low quality it is very expensive to maintain

If we want to improve the quality of theses systems we need to re engineer these systems

Some times These systems may be replaced in case if suitable off the shelf systems are available

Subsystems

For making subsystems easier to maintain we need to do follow certain things

need to re engineer subsystems

Process of Re engineering as follows

  • Re documenting the system
  • Refactoring the system architecture
  • Translating programs to latest programming language
  • Changing and Updating the structure and values of the systems data
