Answer #1

Ethically speaking, it is an unethical practice if I accept the job applications for the coder job. The candidates would be disappointed if they knew that they would be placed in the job that they haven’t applied for. In this situation, I would send an email communication to each of the job application that the requirement is only for the coder job and they have applied incorrectly. This would ease out the situation as the truth is told to them. In fact, as soon as I found out the advertisement is incorrect I would inform the Director of Human Resources and remove the ad as soon as possible from the employment website to avoid more job applications for the misperception. Only interested candidates would apply for the coder job by seeing the email. The next step that I would undertake is to explain the situation to the Director of Human Resources and provide suggestions to edit the advertisement so that it meets our purpose. I would then prepare a new advertisement that has the correct vacancy and salary to place on the employment website after removing the old ad.
