This set of examples has been used by many different instructors. Teachers (both K-12 and higher ed) participate in a culture of sharing that is intended to benefit students and normally isn’t considered plagiarism. Politicians, too, often present words that they did not themselves author. Everyone is aware of the role of political speech writers, and thus this practice is not considered plagiarism. Can you think of other situations where one person presents the words of another without citation, and the practice is not considered plagiarism? What is the difference between the situation you have in mind, or the situations described above, and that of plagiarism that appears in the work of an individual author (whether a student or professional author)?

Answer #1

The issue of plagiarism is one that is vital to address. In a modern technological age, access to information is almost instantaneous, making plagiarism that much easier. When looking to accurately cite a source, three things must be present within the body of the paper. Firstly, credit must be given to the original author. Secondly, quotation marks must surround the material if it is a direct quotation. If it is a paraphrase, that paraphrase must be a genuine rewording of the material, not just the work of changing a couple of words. Thirdly, if the source is a book like the example gives, the page number must be given.

Q. can you think of other situations where one person presents the words of another without citation, and the practice is not considered plagiarism?

ans:-Acting, whether it be for films, stages or television, is a direct example. The actors/actresses are using the words someone has written for them and persuade the audience to believe that the words they are saying are their own. It is their job to make us, as the audience think that we are hearing the words and thoughts from the actors themselves but very rarely does this truly happen.
