Answer #1

Answer- a.impact and c.climate change. There are many reason behind mass extinction which is discovered and hypothesized, but among them the main reason which gave rise to major mass extinction along the permian-triassic boundary and Cretaceous-tertiary boundary are climate change and impacts.

Question 64. Earth has experienced five previous mass extinction events Many ecologists now believe we are experiencing a sixth mass extinction. How does this current mass extinction differ from previous extinction events? The background extinction rate now is much higher now than in previous a. extinction events b. The background rate of extinction is higher now than the rate of biodiversity so the current extinction event is more pronounced than previous ones. There are no differences in the previous and...

EXERCISE 18.6 How Quickly Can Humans Hunt a Species to Extinction? Name: Course: Section: Date: The moa, a giant flightless bird, was hunted to extinction on New Zealand in the early 1400s. The human population of New Zealand was no more than 2,500 at the time when the moa went extinct. We can make some simplified calculations to see how many moas were hunted per year (a) Humans first settled New Zealand and began hunting moas in 1314. The last...

Tethers are long dangling wires that use the velocity of a spacecraft through the Earth's magnetic field to generate electrical power. Alternatively, electrical currents pushed through the tether might be used to change the spacecraft velocity for either propulsion or for braking and reentry. Several 'space tether experiments have been flown to investigate the possible use if Faraday's law for power generation and/or propulsion. Examples are the 1996 joint US/Italy effort to deploy a 20 km tether from one of...
