National origin discrimination is described as discrimination made against an individual or group of individuals because they belong to a certain place and have physical, cultural and linguistic features of a certain nation. Title VII prohibits an employer to discriminate against any person because of his real or perceived national origin.

EEOC, popularly known as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, regulates and enacts civil rights laws against discriminatory practices in the workplace.

Reasons for inclusion of national origin issues under race discrimination claims by the EEOC:

1. An increasing number of cases of race-based discrimination in employment because of the individuals having different national origins.

2. The rights of the individuals to get equal treatment irrespective of their national origin and physical, linguistic or cultural uniqueness.

3. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act clearly prohibits any discriminatory practices in employment because of individuals exhibiting physical, cultural and linguistic features of a certain nation, therefore, many amendments have been made by EEOC to prevent such a practice in employment.

4. The use of force, fraud, and coercion to compel or exploit workers in which an employer's behavior is directed at an individual/s because of his/her national origin.
