One of the rights a patient has in terms of his/her health care is – Right to equal consideration.

Equal care is one of the most significant parts of healthcare rights. All the patients have regular attention from the healthcare organization. A standardized and unbiased care facility should be the prime concern for healthcare organizations. The code of conduct for healthcare professionals depicts that patients must be provided regular care irrespective is their socio-cultural, economic, linguistic, religious, and gender background. Patients must be treated with equal importance and attention. Thus, healthcare organizations must ensure that they are providing regular care and treatment to the patients. Hence, the importance of the right to equal care are as follows:

• Right to similar care ensures similar treatment facilities of patients across their demographic background

• The same attention opens up an opportunity for healthcare professionals to provide unbiased care to patients

• Equal consideration for patients creates scope for healthcare consumers to maintain constant communication with all the healthcare professionals for a better care facility.

Previous examples of where the right has been violated are mentioned below:

• Once a healthcare staff refused to provide quality care to an aboriginal person

• A healthcare organization in the USA failed to communicate a transgender patient in the organization.
