Answer #1

1. On which port does the 8051 output address bits A15-A8.

Ans. Port 2 is used to output higher address bytes from A8-A15.

2. Which signal from the 8051 indicates that port 0 is currently outputting address bits A7-A0?

Ans. In 8051 port 0 multiplexes outputs A0-A7 and AD0-AD7 , ALE (Address Latch Enable) pin (pin 30) is used to differentiate this. When ALE pin is High port 0 outputs data bus ie,AD0-AD7 when ALE pin is Low outputs lower address bytes ie,A0-A7.

Modify the circuit to support a MFCC instruction. MFCC Rd instruction: Move From Condition Codes MFCC copies into the four rightmost bits of Rd the values of the ALU signals Carry (C), Overflow (O), Zero (Z) and Negative (N) as they were set by the previous R- type instruction. The remaining 28 bits of Rd are set to zero. Describe the changes and additions needed for the single-cycle MIPS processor datapath and control to support this instruction. Hints: 1) MFCC...
