What is Sympathetic nervous system?

The autonomic nervous system is divided into 2 divisions. One is Sympathetic nervous system and the other is parasympathetic nervous system. The SNS (sympathetic nervous system) is responsible for the fight or flight mechanism. It regulates heart rate,blood pressure,pupil dilation,body temperature,sweating and digestion.

How does SNS affect blood pressure ?

The Sympathetic nervous system accelerates the heart and blood pressure during various activities like stress,caffeine,exercise etc. It releases hormones like catecholamines- epinephrine and norepinephrine.. The norepinephrine is released from nuerons ,it reaches the left ventricle where it causes an increase in contractile strength and blood pressure. The epinephrine which is released into circulation by adrenal cortex effects the myocardium and peripheral muscles.

The protein that is expected to be present at varicosity

The catecholamines - epinephrine and norepinephrine. binds to adrenergic receptors. These adrenergic receptors are the protein which are expected to be present at a varicosity.
