ANSWER

Survival of fish eggs on benthic habitat and planktonic habitat are based on some external factors such as :

1- sunlight - The amount of sunlight on benthic habitat is less than that of planktonic. So it affect the development of fish egg.

2- salinity - In ocean, the salinity of water decreases with depth, so salinity is less in benthic habitat and more in planktonic habitat respectively.

3- predators - The chance of survival of fish egg in benthic habitat is high due to low number of predators in benthic habitat. But chance of predation is very high at planktonic habitat due internal and external predators.

4- ocean circulation climate - Ocean circulation climate will affect planktonic habitat highly than benthic habitat because benthic habit has less exposure to the outside environment.

By taking these factors it is clear that benthic habitat is better for survival of fish eggs than planktonic habitat even though there are some demerits.
