Answer #1

Stock shift value in the fluorescene filter spectra is the difference between postions of the abosroption band Maxima and emission band Maxima of same electronic state. Stock shift value is very important in the phenomenon of fluoroscene. There are usually an overlap occur between the higher wavelength region of the absoption spectra and lower wavelength region of the emission spectra. Thus a large shift, easier will be the separation between these two band. Thus earier will be the separation of weak emitted fluroscence.
