Etisalat is one of the largest telecommunications organizations working with its present central station in the UAE, primarily in the Middle East and Africa. With a client base of approximately 100 million supporters across 18 nations, it provides ISPs and associations with cell and settled line communication, VOIP and information management. For global communication, it is the twelfth largest voice transporter in the universes.

Strengths:

  • Largest network–In the Middle East and Africa, Etisalat is the largest international voice traffic carrier and the world's twelfth largest. It has approximately 510 roaming agreements covering approximately 186 countries enabling 3 G, BlackBerry, GPRS and voice roaming.
  • Market share–The current market share of Etisalat is approximately AED 156 billion. The company is ranked top for the most profitable telecom groups by having total sales of approximately AED 52.4 billion and a net profit of approximately AED 8.4 billion.
  • International blue-chip company–Etisalat is an international blue-chip company offering innovative solutions and services to approximately 140 million customers in 15 countries across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
  • Best-in-class customer experience–The Etisalat team is to present the best domestic and international customer experience. This provides the investors with attractive returns when investing in the company's long-term goal.
  • High brand value–Etisalat has a strong brand value and a high marketing strategy for making its brand highly visible to the general public.
  • Awards and Recognition–Since its establishment, it has focused on building state-of - the-art telecommunications infrastructure as well as taking the leading position of innovation and quality among global and regional operators.

Weakness:

  • Poor quality as a result of the large network–Etisalat operates in many countries. This can lead to poor service quality, as all of these must be handled together.
  • Manage global operations–Because of the availability in many places at a time, the company faces problems in managing global operations.
  • Production of a new fiber optic network–Developing a new fiber optic network for the sake of reducing service costs and improving data revenue stream.
  • Poor network coverage – Compared to its rival Du, Etisalat's network coverage is poor.
  • High calling charges – In this network, calling charges are high. This is a major weakness because before selecting this network, consumers will think twice.

Opportunities:

  • Increased customer offering–Etisalat provides customers with many product types. By doing so, the company is trying to enhance its customer base with a chance to perform better.
  • Strong economic foundation–The Company has strong economic fundamentals that are sustained by the country's high per capita GDP rising from oil prices.
  • Mobile Number Portability (MNP) –The portability of mobile numbers helps telephone users to maintain their mobile phone numbers while switching from one mobile network provider to another. It makes it easy to move any unsatisfied customers from other networks to the network of Etisalat. It can easily increase its market share if the company provides better services than other network providers.
  • In order to expand its market, Etisalat is working hard to reach new regions and countries.
  • To earn more money and attract customers, Etisalat has the ability to lunch deals and promotions.
  • Etisalat has the ability to launch a powerful media campaign to draw clients.

Threats:

  • Emerging new telecommunications company–The telecoms market is booming and many telecommunications companies are continuing to develop a more accessible and profitable approach. This may be a serious threat to the business of Etisalat.
  • Du's strong competition –Etisalat faces a severe threat from Du, who continues to expand his services to a great height.
  • Another mobile company's incentives–Another mobile company's incentives can be a serious threat to Etisalat. Such benefits draw most customers and thus discourage others from becoming a customer of Etisalat.
  • Since its establishment in the United Arab Emirates, Du Telecommunication Company has been a new local rival to Etisalat.
  • As many other companies, Etisalat is affected by the current global financial crisis.
  • Etisalat's decline in sales and earnings is attributed to Du Telecommunication Company's emergence.
