A clinician can determine that a child is intellectually disabled by tests commonly called IQ tests. IQ tests can be sued to measure the following mental abilities:

  • reasoning;
  • problem-solving;
  • abstract thinking;
  • judgment;
  • academic learning;
  • experiential learning.

Other tools that can be used are the assessment tools like the Rorschach test.
