An ethical dilemma in infant are ,the demand of a parent to save their child at any cost with a severe condition where treatment is not available.

The nurse can advocate in the following way

  • Support the parent psychologically
  • Make them understand the medical condition of the infant and what could be done in the best interest of the infant
  • Inform parents about the effects of the condition in future and how to act and respond in that situation, this gives them a chance to think rationally
  • Do not give false reassurances

An ethical dilemma in a child with brain dead after a head injury where parents are in a dilemmatic situations to take a decision on organ donation

  • Provide a psychological support
  • Inform them about the status of the child
  • Reinforce them it can save many lives ,instead of the organ getting wasted
  • Give ample time tobthe parents to make decision in sound mind

An ethical dilemma in elderly patient to give consent to under go a surgery

  • Explain the procedure to the patient
  • Inform all medical procedure has positive as well as negative effects,but it is mostly done only when it will benefit a patient
  • Tell about the symptoms they experience now band how it can be cured or reduced or relieved after a surgery.
