One of the most important impacts of parents being incarcerated is that children would be left unattended over a period of time. It would be very tough if it’s a single parent. Children would soon know that their parents were imprisoned for some criminal act. Thus, children would become familiar with the crimes their parents committed. Secondly, when children do not have anyone to guide and motivate, they would move out and get trapped into the hands of gangs or other criminals in the neighborhood. Children’s brain and cognition wouldn’t have developed properly yet and they would also be thrilled with committing crimes just for the sake of thrill. They may not be able to understand laws and wouldn’t be able to visualize the consequences.
