As the VP of HR, how would you plan, monitor, and react to compliance to the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978?
answer-
Several federal laws protect or grant rights to workers on the basis of pregnancy or related medical conditions. These rights and protections may include the right to be free from discrimination, harassment, and stereotypes; the right to reasonable workplace accommodations, such as job modifications, extended or additional breaks, and leave; the right to leave for pregnancy, childbirth, related medical conditions, and bonding; and the right to equivalent fringe benefits, such as health insurance.
For example, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA), which applies to employers with 15 or more workers, protects women from discriminatory actions based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.
As VP of HR, i would plan the policies for Staff male and female in which i would describe the conditions, space, actions etc for the pregnant employees at workplace. These policies regarding the care, safety and health of the pregnant employees in the company.'the plan would include the-
safety and flexible working hours for the pregnant employees as per their requirements.
Healthy meal in noon and evening at discount or free rate from the cafeteria of the company.
a medical assistance for these pregnant employees so that any unfortunate condition does not occur.
Sick leaves as per requirement of the pregnant lady,
these above policy would be adopted at workplace so that these pregnant ladies do not feel discriminated instead they would love to work at our company with more zeal and energy with such good and supporting policy.
I would monitor that each and every policy is being followed and there is not any kind of discrimination activity at workplace. i would monitor it by My personal observations, CCTV cameras, My junior executives round the premises to monitor the compliance of policy.
By adopting this policy, I would be fully complying with pregnancy discrimination act of 1978 because i would make workplace environment like home in which pregnant employees would feel like home and people who are responsible for breaking the policies would get consequences like legal suit, termination of employment etc.
