It is best practice to assign groups to object in Windows rather than individual user accounts. This is true even for groups that would only have a single user account in them. Why do you think that is?

Handling an individual user account is a difficult job. Adding individual user accounts to groups will simplify the work of managing rights and permissions of the user account. In Windows, there are many system groups that are created when the operating system is installed. When users are assigned to these groups, they will get the rights of the group. Each group has its own rights and permissions. When an individual user is made as part of a group, the user will get all the rights and permissions that the group has. The advantage of a group is that it is easy to manage the rights and permissions of multiple users at a time.

When an individual user tries to access an object ( such as a hardware resource like printer, a file, or a registry key ), Windows will check whether the user has permission to access that object. When the user is made part of a group, that group's privileges are given to the user. When assigning permissions to a resource, the administrator will assign these permissions to the group rather than to individual users. Permissions are assigned to the group only once instead of assigning multiple times to individual users. Each user who is assigned to the group gets the permissions of the group.

In Windows, individual user accounts are created for each user. Then these individual user accounts will be added to the group so that the user gets appropriate rights and privileges. This will simplify the administrative works of assigning permissions once to the group rather than assigning multiple times to individual users.

Assigning groups to objects is a better practice rather than assigning individual users to an object.
