What does the color of leaves have to do with which wavelengths are the strongest absorbed by chlorophyll?
__PRESENT
The colour of the leaves that is the type of pigment present in the leaves determine the wavelength of the light which would be maximally absorbed by those pigment. Most of the plants are green because they are rich in chlorophyll A. Chlorophyll A absorbs maximally at 430 nm and 660 nm. By looking at the colour of the leaf we can tell at which wavelength the plant is absorbing maximum amount of Sunlight and able to perform the highest rate of photosynthesis.
Colour of the leaf determines the wavelength of the light at which the plant absorbs maximally which further determines the rate of photosynthesis of that plant.

Chlorophyll a Absorption Spectrum of Visible Light Absorption of light (%) Which of the following wavelengths of light are not absorbed by chlorophyll a to power photosynthesis? Check all that apply. 430 nm 660 nm 530 nm 400 450 500 550 600 Wavelength (nm) 650 700 wavelength (nm) In a laboratory experiment, you take three plants and put them each under a lamp that mimics sunlight. You have three colored light filters that fit over each of the lamps: a...
Why do plants tend to absorb the wavelengths 500-625 nm less than other wavelengths of light? (5 pts): If we conducted an experiment to cut Chlorophyll in half where we cleaved the hydrophobic tail from the porphyrin ring how would either part behave on the chromatography sheet when separated? (5pts): Now isolated on the sheet how would the individual subunits of Chlorophyll behave when we analyze their optic densities? Make sure to provide comments on both subunits. (5 pts): If...
