Answer #1

Answer 17)

The chromosome of bacteriophage is mapped by means of infecting the bacteria with bacteriophage.

Now the two specific gene are studied on the basis of their infectiom in bacteria. The bacteria are looked for the recombinant type and parental type for these two genes. Because we know that during infection of bacteriophage in bacteria leads to pass their gene in bacteria.

In this way, gene distance is calculated by

(recomibant bacteria/total bacteria) × 100

Now the different genes distance are calculated as same in the above case. And then their data are integrated to obtain the gene map.

For example the bacteriophage has a+b+/ ab. Now it is allowed to infect the bacteria.

Now look for a+b and ab+ bacteria These are the recombinant bacteria. Now count the number of recombinant bacteria and divide by total number of bacteria and then multiply it with 100. In this way you get distance between two genes a and B.

And integrate the data for all genes and in this way, we get our genetic map.
