  1. After you have determined your own place on the dominance scale, think about your closest coworkers and friends. Who is the most dominate in your circle? Who is the least dominant? Can you recall occasions when either low dominance or high dominance created a barrier to effective interpersonal relations?

At my last place of employment I was the more dominate in the circle and my supervisor was the least dominate.

My supervisors low dominate created a barrier to effective interpersonal relations. We worked at a trucking company and over the road drivers would arrive with their loads to deliver in Laredo and if they were friends with my supervisor he would allow them to drop the trailer. I would have to schedule the load for delivery; therefore this affected our local drivers, our customer service representatives and mainly our customers. The local drivers had more work, CSR’s would have to advise customers the load had not been delivered for whatever reason and our customers were unsatisfied with our company.

Can you recall an occasion when high sociability or low sociability created a barrier to effective interpersonal relations?

My best friend has high sociability; she expresses her feelings, is open and is very talkative. She also enjoys personal associations. We went to a restaurant one time and the waitress was taking long to take our order and of course she opened up and expressed her feelings to the waitress, by complaining. I was so embarrassed that I wanted to walk up and leave. Now I do not go to eat with her at any public place.
