Write the symbols, with charges, for ions formed by calcium, magnesium, strontium, potassium, and sodium, as well as the ions chloride and nitride. Write formulas and names for the compounds you can make by pairing each of the cations with each of the anions.

I will show you what I have so far. I just didn't know how to do cations and anions. I tried anions but don't know if they are right and maybe it needs to be a formula. Thanks

Charge    Anion Chloride Nitride Cation

Calcium    Ca^2+ Cl^-1     CaCl2 Ca3N2

Magnesium Mg^2+ P^-3     MgCl2 Mg3N2

Strontium Sr^2+         SrCl2 Sr3N2

Potassium K^+ S^-2 KCl KNO2

Sodium Na^+ Cl^-    NaCl Na3N2

To determine the salt formed during a neutralization reaction, combine the anion formed by the dissociation of the acid and the cation formed by the dissociation of the base in a ratio that results in a neutral, ionic compound. For example, if you have a cation with a 1+ charge and an anion with a 2- charge, you will need two cations to balance the charge. [(1+ charge on cation)(2)]+[2 - charge on anion)(1)] = (+2) + (-2) = 0...

Experiment 8 Double Replacement Reactions Background: Some reactions have the net effect of causing the cation of each reactant to trade places, forming a compound with the other anion. In the example below (unbalanced equation), the barium and sodium cations switch places so that barium forms a product with sulfate while sodium forms a product with chloride. Note that the formula of each product is determined by the charges of the ions,...
