The four factors that influence an employee's job dissatisfaction or satisfaction are :
1) Economic Security:
The first most important factor that an employee wants from a job, is the economic security they expect to be provided. Employees are concerned about job security and don't want to face uncertainty related to their economic welfare. Economic security ensures them of long term compensation and thus increasing job commitment or loyalty.
Thus for satisfying the employees or to prevent dissatisfaction,, employees should be provided with economic security to ensure them of their future and welbeing.
2) Compensation or fair pay :
Employees expect a good compensation from their job which will meet their social and luxury needs. Employees often compare their pay and benefits received from job , with the efforts and hardwork they put in performing it , , and if they feel that their pay is not worth their efforts it will result in job dissatisfaction.
3) Working conditions and culture :
Employees will want to work in a workplace where they will feel good and comfortable. They would want a friendly working environment which produces a sense of belonging and meets their social and cultural needs. If these factors will be missing it can result in employee dissatisfaction from job as they will not be able to adjust themselves in environment where they feel isolated.
4) Promotion :
An employee will never want to stick to a position with no opportunities of promotion. They will want to raise themselves to a superior position and increase their pay by pushing harder and achieving targets. So if there us no promotional opportunity provided, it might impact the employees satisfaction level.
All of the four , above mentioned factors can be changed by the employer as they can provide them job security through pension schemes or long term contracts ,,, they can change their performance appraisal system to ensure fair pay is being oferred,,, they can encourage healthy working environment by enhancing team spirit,,,,,cultural diversity and collaboration,,and they can also offer promotional opportunities to raise employee from existing to more recognized position.
I will provide the example of my own workplace ,which has tried best to incorporate all such means and factors that can maximize job satisfaction and deter job dissatisfaction.
My workplace first of all ensures that top talents are attracted for which it conducts a research to be aware of what the employees of today want. The various factors as identified and made available by my workplace to satisfy employees both current as well as prospective are :
1) Providing initiative in their job so that they can make use of their creativity and tactics to perform it in their own style to encourage high performance snd active participation. As most of the young employees today don't want a workplace with hard abd fast rules and control mechanism.
2) My boss has opted for internal placement for providing employees opportunities to prove themselves better and get oromited to higher positions which has enganced the job satisfaction and resulted in dedicated efforts and healthy competition inside the workplace.
3) The top management tries to incorporate and follow the Adam's Equity theory while deciding pay for employees so that the equality and fairness is demonstrated raising employee morale and satisfaction.
4) The organization tries best to adopt to the cultural preferences of employees through adopting to each culture of employee so that they feel sense of belonging and thus increase their job satisfaction or deter dissatisfaction.
Thus my workplace is the best example for incorporating ways to promote job satisfaction which inturn also benefits the organisation largely through employee loyalty and commitment.
