Alpha emission involves removal of a helium nucleus

So if gold-201 decays by alpha emission we hva ethe following reaction

The resulting atom formed will be Iridium (Ir) with atomic number 77 and mass number 197. This is because 201-4=197 (subtraction of mass number of alpha particle from mass number of gold) and 79-2=77 (subtraction of atomic number of alpha particle from atomic number of gold) and 77 is the atomic number of Iridium (Ir).
