Since red is more intense than yellow, so we observe the solution as red. Now, the answer to the question comes from the Le Chatelier's principle. It says, when the equilibrium of a system is disturbed by applying temperature,pressure, excess reactant etc ,then the equilibrium will adjust and shift in such direction so that it can oppose the effect of given constraint. Here the system at first was in equilibrium. When we add excess FeCl3 in the medium, then the equilibrium shifts such that the system can consume excess FeCl3. So, the reaction goes forward, so that the system can consume excess FeCl3 by complexation with SCN-. Thus, more red complex will be generated, thus the colour will be more red. Correct answer is A.
