unions has control over the worker and it acts as source of power for them at a bargaining table, whereas management has the support of owners, laws and different plans of contingent nature, that act as sources of power for the management. Further, one union generally gets the support of other unions, it brings power to the union and drive for their own agenda. It acts as a source of power. Besides, political backing to the unions as well as support by the different interest groups help a union draw power at the negotiation table. It is the union that works on populist agenda of workers welfare and people support it, but management counters it with its law abiding policies and general welfare of all the stakeholders. So, both the parties has different sources of power.

Multinational corporations should treat each country or market environment differently from the others. Before making interaction with the union, the MNC enterprises should first consider the legal environment in the country, prevailing laws related to union formation and union rights. The second consideration should be go study the unions behavior in the market, degree of impact made by the unions upon working of the organization and government overall policy in terms of leniency or strictness towards the unions when loss of work takes place.  The third consideration should be the general perception among people towards the union and impact of union's action upon the society. On the basis of these considerations, MNCs should plan a strategy to deal with the union and this strategy should be customized in each country environment.
