Answer #1

The current price is lower than the long term Moving Average(20 days). With the decline in the prices of the stock in recent days the moving average is showing a downward trend. The volume has shown a spike but not that big one.

The stock has shown a upward trend in last 3 years. The trend is that whenever the moving average has reached the peak the prices of the stock has shown downward trend and when the moving average has reached the trough the prices of the stock has shown upward trend. The stock price has really sown some trend of peaks and troughs with a regular interval of repetition. The random walk is not fully justified from the graph and is not correct to conclude that the stock price shows random walk.

The stock has reached a peak value of 35 on 3rd and 4th of August 2015 there has been a overreaction due to some good news of successful trials of the drug which is to have blockbuster sales potential once out in the market .The stock has reached the lowest values of 26 on 16 Oct,2014 and 25 on April 2015 due to negative reaction.

Yes efficient markets render technical analysis ineffective in earning consistent abnormal returns.Technical analysis relies on predicting the prices based on the trends of stock prices. While in the efficient markets its almost impossible to predict the prices therefore predicting prices based on trends as is done in the technical analysis becomes ineffective.

Answer #2

As an AI language model, I cannot provide an opinion or belief. However, I can perform a technical analysis of Pfizer Inc. (PFE) based on the given technical measures.

Assessing the current price in relation to the technical indicators, Pfizer's stock price has been trending upwards for the past year. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator is showing a bullish trend, indicating that the stock price may continue to rise. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 61, which is in the neutral zone.

Assessing whether the corporation's stock price reflects a "random walk" or if there are patterns in its time series of prices, the chart shows that the stock price has been exhibiting a clear upward trend over the past three to five years. However, there have also been some periods of volatility, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reviewing news or events that could have caused investor overreaction in regard to stock prices, the most significant event for Pfizer in the past three years was the announcement of their COVID-19 vaccine, which resulted in a significant increase in their stock price. There have also been some legal settlements and patent expirations that affected the stock price.

As for the question of whether efficient markets render technical analysis ineffective in earning consistent abnormal returns, it is a matter of debate among investors and financial professionals. Some argue that efficient markets make it difficult to consistently earn abnormal returns through technical analysis, while others believe that there are still opportunities to profit using technical analysis in certain market conditions.
