Policies for a succssful mentoring program.

The objective of mentoring is to familiarise the mentee with the work culture of the company, the expressed as well as implicit rules and regulations, strategic intent and goals of the company and the expectations from the role of candidate. Mentorship should be directed towards successful, seamless and hiccup free induction of the employee into workforce, who would otherwise, might harbour some misconceptions about the company and its people, take a wrong step or feel bogged down by certain teething problems.

Expectation from mentor would be to understand the state of mind of mentee, comfort and ease him /her up for taking up the job responsibilities, familiarise him /her with the procedures / regulations, provide guidelines for successful nevigation in the role, act as a saviour in the event of a faux pas, act as a psychological support system for the mentee, be selfless and observe highest standard of ethics by being impartial and refrain from discussing controversial / conflciting matters of the company and its people with the mentee.

Expectations from mentee would be to utilise the facility of mentorship to establish himself / herself in the company, be inquisitive, open and sincere for learning, respect the mentor, who has shown confidence in him /her, observe highest degree of ethics, be considerate to everyone he /she gets help during mentorship and refrain from acts which would cast a negative impression on the mentor or the other workers.
